New Milford, CT – June 28, 2025 — Brave Enough To Fail Inc., a student-focused nonprofit dedicated to providing motivational programs, educational resources, and financial aid to help young people succeed in school and beyond, proudly announces the appointment of Don Fertman as Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Don Fertman brings decades of executive leadership and personal passion to his new role. Recently retired as the Chief Development Officer for Subway, Fertman played a pivotal role in the company’s growth from 166 restaurants to over 41,000 locations in 105 countries during his tenure. A seasoned executive and inspirational advocate, Fertman is also widely known for his candid and courageous discussion of his recovery from substance use—an experience that has defined much of his mission-driven work outside the corporate world.
Fertman’s appearance on the CBS series Undercover Boss brought national attention not only to his corporate leadership but also to his recovery journey. Since then, he has become a prominent voice in the addiction recovery movement, serving as Chairman of the Board for The Phoenix, a nationwide nonprofit fostering sober active communities, and founding Recovery Branches, a resource hub for people in recovery and the organizations that support them.
